Description
Mud Pie Clarifying Treatment — Bentonite Clay, ACV, & Chlorine Removal |Ecoslay
Mud Pie is Ecoslay’s bentonite clay clarifying treatment — formulated with apple cider vinegar, neroli distillate, and aloe vera to deeply cleanse scalp and hair. It removes stubborn product buildup, excess sebum, hard water minerals, and chlorine. Works on all curl types from wavy (2a) to kinky (4c).
What Mud Pie Does For Your Hair and Scalp:
Bentonite clay in Mud Pie draws out product residue, mineral deposits, and other buildup that sits on the hair and scalp, lifting them away when completely rinses. This clarifying treatment cleanser is more thorough than any surfactant-based shampoo. It reaches deep into the hair shaft and follicle to remove stubborn buildup that stops most conditioners and treatments from working. It leaves the scalp revitalized and hair shiny and manageable. Mud Pie contains aids to remove chlorine safely and completely from the hair shaft by rinsing it away cleanly. If you swim regularly, Mud Pie is an essential treatment to use after pool sessions before your regular wash-day routine.

Key Ingredients
Bentonite Clay
Acts as a magnet to draw out buildup and impurities from the hair shaft and follicle. An effective natural deep-cleansing agent for curly and coily hair.

Aloe Vera
A natural conditioner, similar to keratin, the protein hair is made from. Helps reduce dry scalp and adds smooth, high-gloss shine. Conditions the hair during the clarifying process so strands emerge clean but not stripped.

Yes. Mud Pie is specifically formulated to remove chlorine. It contains sodium thiosulfate, a reducing agent that directly reacts with and neutralizes chlorine that has bonded to the hair’s protein structure from pool water. Use Mud Pie within 24 hours of swimming, leave on for 7–10 minutes, rinse thoroughly, and follow with Chai Latte Hair Cleanser and Banana Cream Deep Conditioner to restore moisture.
3–5 minutes for regular maintenance clarifying or mild product buildup. 7–10 minutes for heavy silicone buildup, hard water mineral deposits, pre-protein treatment, or chlorine removal after swimming.
For low-porosity hair, we recommend a monthly treatment. For high-porosity, it can be used every 2 – 3 months, depending on build up on the scalp and in the hair.
Yes. Mud Pie is particularly beneficial for low-porosity hair. Low-porosity hair has a tightly sealed cuticle that resists product absorption and is prone to build up. Mud Pie’s bentonite clay cleanses and removes this surface buildup, genuinely opens the cuticle, and restores the hair’s ability to absorb moisture and treatments.
No mixing is required. Apply Mud Pie directly to wet hair in a hot, steamy shower — the steam softens the clay and makes it easier to distribute. Apply a small amount to wet hair, massage into scalp, and work through ends. Leave on for a few minutes before rinsingthoroughly.Keep hair wet during the treatment time (3–10 minutes) to prevent the clay from hardening.
