No — when used correctly. Jello Shot forms a firm cast as it dries, which can feel stiff while wet. This is normal and a sign the hold is working. Once hair is completely dry, scrunch the cast out gently with your palms (called SOTC, or scrunch out the crunch). The result is soft, bouncy, touchably defined curls with no stiffness. Using too much product or scrunching before hair is fully dry are the most common causes of residual crunchiness.

Yes. Jello Shot works effectively on dry hair for day-2 and day-3 refreshes. Lightly mist dry hair with water first, apply a very small amount (fingertip-sized) to areas that have lost definition or are frizzing, smooth through and scrunch, then allow to re-dry. Use significantly less product on dry hair than on wet.

Start with a dime-to-quarter-sized amount per section on wet hair. A little goes a long way — most users with medium-length hair use 2–4 pumps for a full application. On dry hair, use even less: a fingertip-sized amount per area being refreshed. Over-application is the most common cause of heaviness or white residue. Start with less than you think you need and add more if required.
